Kern High Student Storytelling Fellows
Click the embedded link above to read, listen, and watch their stories.
During the 2021-2022 academic year, with funding from the National Geographic Society, we launched a Kern High Students Storytelling Fellowship. For this fellowship, we selected 25 high school students from 8 different high schools in the Kern High School District. The students took three #GenGeo Storytelling for Impact courses in video, audio, and photography and applied their learning to tell stories of environmental (in)justice in the San Joaquin Valley. As a capstone experience, the students attended a co-design retreat at Sequoia National Park and began to engage their stories as anchors and guideposts for a student-led professional development for teachers. This curriculum will be available during Summer 2023.
